Daily Dilbert newspaper

This script cleans up the borders, advertisements and unnecessary links provided in your Daily Dilbert subscription.

This script cleans up the borders, advertisements and unnecessary links provided in your Daily Dilbert subscription (a staight-to-inbox service offered by Dilbert.com and Comics.com) and replaces the message branding with a neater banner. Overall, this allows you to concentrate on the comic, rather than the other stuff.

Below are some screenshots demonstrating Daily Dilbert strips before without and after with the Daily Dilbert newspaper script enabled.

before scriptafter script

If you would like me to develop a similar version of the script for another comic e-mail subscription offered by Comics.com - drop a comment below. ;)

Thank you and enjoy your Daily Dilbert comic! ;)

Please note: Due to how the Daily Dilbert newspaper script works, you may notice some text becomes smaller within you web mail service. Also note that by default, this script is configured to work only with Google mail. Of course, you may add the addresses used by your web mail service such as to make it work.

Latest version - 1.1
Changes from 1.0...

  • Properly removes advertisements (incl. 468x60 banners)
  • Tidied up script a little bit.

@hac: I've tried it with the *original* Gmail air skin and haven't noticed any problems, which aren't already caused by the unmodified Daily Dilbert emails.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

@floaty: Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into it. :)

@hac: Thanks. Glad you like the script. I think the reason it most likely messes with the gmail air skin as it matches images with no text in their alt attribute.

I maybe should remove (at least some) images based on URL rather than alt. At least for those images without alt attributes.

Love the idea. But as a default, it messes with the gmail air skin.

I'll try to tweak it today to fit. Can't stand the default dilbert emails.
