Gmail + Google Calendar

Embeds Google Calendar to Gmail by adding a "Calendar" link

WARNING Does not work with the new GMail interface! I'm working on a fix for that.

Based (totally!) on the Gmail + Google Reader script by Mihai Parparita (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/5972)

Some notes:

The position of the calendar link can be changed by editing the source and modifying the CALENDAR_LINK_POSITION constant (if you don't see the constant, please update the script). Currently it can only be moved from before the Inbox link to after the Trash link. I'll try to add more flexibility later.

If you want the Calendar menus aligned at the right of the screen, update the script and edit the source. Check the CALENDAR_STYLES part, you'll see some commented code, just uncomment it. However this isn't very useful because the popups for Quick Add and the Calendars settings will appear out of the screen, I hope to fix this in the near future.

I noticed that it initially hid the top bar and Google logo, etc., in the embedded calendar, then disappeared and reappeared with the bar and logo stuff back. Is it supposed to hide those?

@Gina thanks for the modification, I hope you don't mind if I add it to the script (I didn't know about the User Scripts Commands). Great work with the Better Whatever extensions :)

Hi there - thanks for the script! I've modified it to support Google Apps for your Domain. Set your domain name using the User Script Commands menu:

Another question ...

Why does this script, and the reader script as well, quickly disappear and reappear when navigating to various items that don't refresh the whole page?

Anyone else experience this?

Great little script. Thank you.

Any chance you, or someone more adept than I, could write a script including Google Notebook in the same manner?

What we're doing here is adding these elements to Gmail to make it like a full-fledged email program similar to its competitors in terms of navigational accessability.

This is a good thing.

I made a script based on this which embeds Netvibes instead of Google Calendar, http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/9546

I also made it easy to change it to embed any site you want by moving the constants to the top of the script and adding a LINK_TEXT one for the link text.

Thanks for the comments guys!

@theaulddubliner: It's not a bug it's a feature! So you can have the calendar opened everytime!... Just joking... I'll take a look into it :)

@jmoo2: I uploaded a new version that allows you to move the calendar link by editing the source and modifying the CALENDAR_LINK_POSITION constant. From now it only moves from before te inbox to after the Trash link. I'll try to add more flexibility later.

Great feature! I found out about if from the Better Gmail extension. Using your script along with Better GCal looks fantastic :)

Just one thing. Can the "Calendar" link be placed somewhere other than as a sub-folder or Inbox? For example, under or directly before Contacts?

just noticed a bug

if for whatever reason you click on the calendar link twice, upon returning to the inbox a calendar frame is still visible underneath the inbox

hope that's clear
