Script Summary: Removes Trolls from WaPo Comments Section, Hi-Lites Favorites

This is a script for ignoring rowdy commenters on WaPo Comments section or hi-liting favorites.

This is version 1.8.4 Still technically in beta, however.

Works with Firefox + Greasemonkey or natively with Google Chrome. It also works in Opera and in Safari, with SIMBL and Greasekit.

This script does three things. It moves the posters name from the bottom of the comments to the top, allows you to hilite favored commenters (by clicking on their name on one of their comments), and then adds an "Ignore" button beside each commenters name.

It also does a 3rd thing as of version 1.5: turns http:// links put in a comment into a live link you can click on.

It does a 4th thing, now. Allows formatting. "“Double quotes for blockquotes“" , double-asterisk **for bold**, bullets (option-8 on Mac, Alt-0149 on the PC) for •italic•, double underline for __underline__ and double en dashes (option - on the Mac, Alt-0150 on PC) for ––strike through––.

Other formatting includes typing …

… to embed an image. Just put the image URL after the |img: and before the ending pipe (|).

Hilite: |hi:this is hilited text|

Red colored type: |red:this type is red|

And that's pretty much it.

Previous versions let you edit the source code to add names to ignore, and would let you turn off moving names from the bottom to the top, if you wanted. That's gone in this version. Sorry! It's all tied together now.

At the very bottom of the window, where the Total Comments Removed count is, there is also a button to "Clear Troll Lists". This flushes the accumulated list of hidden trolls, and will show everyone who has been blocked. And then you can just selectively start to ignore them again. You can also clear the Favorites list.

There are no default trolls. Anyone you want to block is up to you.

I'll try to provide a more comprehensive description/instructions in the future, but, really, it's pretty self explanatory. Use in good health!
