User Scripts Search Sorting
Sorts userscripts.org search results by the number of times they have been installed, by updated date, alphabetically or by number of comments.
After finding userscripts.org, I was somewhat displeased at the difficulty of finding popular and high quality scripts. This script should help solve that problem, by sorting search results by the number of times a script has been installed.
Update: Mar. 14: v 0.3.1 - Added sorting of a user's scripts listing.
Update: Mar. 13: v 0.3 Added alphabetical sort by script name.
Update: Mar. 12: I've added links in the table header that you can click to sort by number of installs, number of comments, or by updated date.
Update: Mar. 12: Edited to sort tag listings as well.
This script could be slow for searches that return a large number of results, although it handles a search for "google", which returns hundreds of results, without too much trouble.

I would add event.cancelBubble = 1 to avoid running the href on that links and cause a scroll up event by the #. This will also solve a bug when clicking refresh the url will be included in the script includes. I would like to see an improvement of this script using getValue/setValue or cookies
Well, the best thing is to provide options to all greasemonkey scripts by the engine api... |

Love this script.

I've been happy with this script for over a year now. Thank you. |

I'm brandspanking new to this whole script thing. When I came here to look for some, like you, I was sorely disappointed. One of the very first searches I did was look for one for userscripts.org. Wow! You read my mind before I even thought about it. ;) Thank you! It works perfectly. |

Hey znerp, Sorry for not being around -- school has been busy the last few weeks. I still want to merge your patch in, and I have a few other changes to make, but it's going to have to wait until next weekend when classes are over. Jon: It can't really be added to the front page, because it only sorts results within a certain page; it won't sort all the scripts on the site, it would just sort the 25 most recently updated, which really isn't all that useful. |
|
|
Why can't this be added to the main page?

This is perfect and awesome. |

You never got back to me, so I've added my modified version of this script. This can be found at http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/8036. If you take offense, I will by all means remove this. |

well if you want to see what I did, give me an email address and I can send it. Alternatively you can email me at znerp(at)hotmail.com and I'll reply. |
|
|
That sounds useful... I'll add it on my next update. |

I've modified your script for my own use to display the number of installs per day, and enabled sorting by that. I find this slightly more informative than sorting by installs, as it brings newly popular scripts higher up compared to older scripts with more installs. If you're interested, I can send it to you to show my changes. Alternatively if you'd like, I can upload it and credit you. I'm not too bothered either way, I just fancied playing with it for my own use. |

I'm not sure that would be the most useful addition. What do others think? |

Very handy. Any chance you could include the option to number the search results? It would be nice to see how scripts rank in the way of downloads, etc. |
|
|
Wow! This is a must. I thought the same thing when I first started using userscripts.org. This should be hard coded into the site. |

Very useful script! It saves time, especially when searching items that have many returns. |
