NOTE: If you use Chrome or Safari browsers there are InstapaperIt extensions you can install (instead of this userscript) to get similiar functionality + auto-updating and improved performance/stability that come with extensions. The extensions also add contextual menu commands to send a link to Instapaper, and a toolbar button to send the current page:
InstapaperIt for Chrome is here.
InstapaperIt for Safari is here.

Lets you send a link to Instapaper in the background by clicking and holding down the left mouse button till the link changes color (just over a second).

If you prefer an alt key or option key clicking alternative to this, get instapaperIt altClick.

If you prefer a shift-clicking alternative to this, get instapaperIt shiftClick.

No more need to open a link, wait for it to load, hit the instapaper bookmarklet and wait just to add a link to your instapaper account you already know you want there.

Just click and hold a sec.

After installing/downloading the script you need to make two quick and easy changes for it to work.

open the script in a text editor (Notepad.exe, TextEdit.app, etc) and change the first two variable
YOURUSERNAME
YOURPASSWORD

to your instapaper username (usually an email address) and password. If you don't have an instapaper password, change
psswrd="YOURPASSWORD"
to
psswrd=""
