Script Summary: This script will let you vote by hovering over your target for a split second.
What this script DOES do?
Pointing and clicking is not user friendly. You often point, click, slip and miss your target; you try to find it again, only to click a little too fast and "unvote" your vote, and now you are back to square one. (If you are a subnetbook user, like I am, you will feel that pain more acutely on your miniature trackpad!) Clicking is a wasteful and inefficient way to vote. It require a lot of effort, and involves great deal of frustration.
I wrote this script to reduce the unusable or hard to use features of Reddit's voting system. But it can be applied to any voting system on the net. Clicking is the anti-pattern of voting.
What this script DOES NOT do?
It does NOT mistake moving the cursor over an arrow and hovering that arrow with intent to vote. You don't vote for articles by accident. Triggering a vote requires you to stop your cursor over an arrow for just a fraction of a second. The duration is long enough to eliminate any accident, but shorter than the time it takes you to vote by clicking on that arrow, and that is not even counting all the slip-ups and the do-overs. And by eliminating the stress of voting, it will increase your participation considerably.
Why use this script?
Because it will allow you to upvote the narwhals and unicorns faster.
Why not use this script?
I can't think of a single reason. :-)
- version 0.2: now the script uses hoverIntent to trigger voting action.
- version 0.1: added the script.
