Description

I absolutely hate the mandatory age check on Gametrailers.com. Since not even registering removes the age verification I needed another solution. There are a few scripts who basically do what I want but they're not exactly working all that well.

So, what exactly does this script? Essentially, it does five things:

  1. It removes age verification from every player in SD and HD configurations.
  2. Additionally, it ensures the right placement of the QT and WMP players. (If it doesn't for you, try disabling this feature by setting corrOffsets to false.)
  3. It shortens the title by replacing Game Trailers & Videos | Gametrailers.com with a simple Gametrailers. (You don't want that to happen? Set trimTitle to false.)
  4. Additionaly, it stops the Flash player from playing automatically (currently BETA)! The behavior is similar to Flashblock. You can start the video with a click. (Don't want that to happen? Set stopAutoplay to false.)
  5. Finally, it removes the the huge logo on top of the page and tweak the CSS a little.

History

  • 2.7.1(2009-11-16) Fixed a small bug preventing user movies from being shown. Additionally, I optimized a few things and changed a few others.
  • 2.7(2009-10-20) Adapted the script to the new layout and player. NOTE: Since the latest change the age verification can completely be bypassed by registering! Nonetheless, the script still works.
  • 2.6(2009-09-23) Fixed a few bugs and made some changes to the script:
    • Fixed user movies
    • Removed unnecessary code
    • The document title will now be trimmed more and on every page
  • 2.5(2009-09-03) A few small changes to adapt the script to the new design
  • 2.4(2009-07-27) Added support for user movies
  • 2.3(2009-07-21) NOTE: I decided to remove the menu feature. It was more irritating than helpful and it obscured the background image on the page. Further changes:
    • Placement of the respective players should now be accurate
    • Added a BETA feature that stops Flash videos from playing automatically. Comments are welcome.
    • Changed the namespace
    • 2.2(2009-06-16) Fixed a bug where the absence of spacers led to a stop in the script execution
    • 2.1(2009-05-28) Some small code optimizations
    • 2.0(2009-05-25) Did a little code optimization, I hope, and added a new feature.
      • Fixed the offset correction, which should work better now.
      • Added new feature that hides the top part of the page and display the menu on the left side.
      • Deletes a few spacers on the right hand menu.
