Script Summary: Fix the 404 error on that site when your browser defaults to some language other than English
Visiting http://custombuttons2.com/ with the browser defaulting to a non-English locale, many links end up in a 404 error - since the site tries to show the page in the visitors language, whether it exists or not. You have to go to the URL bar and fix that manually, which is annoying.
Using this script, you still get that 404 initially - but then the URL gets fixed by the script, and the correct page reloads - saving you the manual fix.
Configuration and Usage
Just install - nothing to configure, nothing special to take care of. The script takes care of :-)
History of Changes
- 1.0.0 (2009-05-12) - initial version
- 1.0.1 (2009-05-13) - the script should handle all languages correctly. Note that only URLs with the language notation
de-de, etc.) are handled. Two-character language codes (like
deseem to be handled correctly by the site itself. Also, the endless loop the first version sometimes ran into should be fixed as well now.
- 1.0.2 (2009-05-14) - the script now also catches the page-not-found for the initial Forum link.
- Nicholas seems to have solved the 404 issue on 2009-05-15. This script still works for the remaining (403) issue with the forums front page.
