Updated 4/22/09 - Fixed a bug related to connection limit. I thought I could just throw out one background request for every effect and piece of equipment. The browser/network/OS/internet apparently kills some of them off silently.

I made the requests linear. This should work on all machines now, but might be a tad slower then before. A slower adding machine is better then a broken one.
