Changelog

version 2.4
September 11, 2009

  • Added comment count on status
  • Added like count on status
    • Fixed a bug in the like total that would cause it to accidentally take the totals from someone else's post
    • Fixed a bug in the like total that would cause any number above 9 to be truncated to its first digit. Eg: 18 became 1
    • Fixed a bug in the like total when FB would write 'Joe Smith and 3 others liked this'. It would originally pull 3, and now it pulls 4
  • Added hover controls for the comment appearance
    • Made them a little more pretty
  • Fixed edit
    • FB had changed the text box where you enter your status to change from a text area to an editable div after it gets focus, which just effed everything up.
  • Fixed character count
    • Same problem as the edit button (above).
  • FB code change on September 30 caused the attachments to go funky. Corrected
  • Fixed a load issue the script was having.
    • Facebook sometimes loads slowly, so the script would error when it couldn't find the elements. It now checks if they're available, and if not, it waits until the page has COMPLETELY finished loading.
  • FB code changed on m.facebook.com on October 21, 2009. This caused the script to not find the status. It has been corrected

version 2.3
September 1, 2009

  • Added character count per request.
    • If you would not like to see the count, you can toggle it off by:
      1. right click (Windows) on the Greasemonkey icon in Firefox
      2. browse to the Userscript commands
      3. click on 'FB Status: TOGGLE CHARACTER COUNT DISPLAY'
  • Fixed for a bug where I didn't consider the new 'privacy control' that is not always visible.
    • Fixed a bug I created while fixing this bug that would cause the status to bump too far to the right. GAH!
  • An attempt at preventing it from thinking you were not logged in has been made.

version 2.2
August 27, 2009

  • Made the new styling happen universally. Go to a friends profile, or even your own to see it in action
  • Corrected a small bug when viewing other peoples profiles.
    • This corrects for friends with cleared or no status.
  • Corrected a small bug for multiple users on the same computer
    • This occurred when one status was cleared but the other user's was not

version 2.1
August 26, 2009

  • Reworked the appearance
  • Reworked the settings
    • You can now right click on the greasemonkey icon and use the 'Userscript commands' to toggle the appearance of the status window or the positioning of the attachment buttons

version 2.0
August 25, 2009

  • Sorry for getting behind. Fixed a totally broken code.
    • Totally revised the way the code works, (basically starting over)
    • Made the code much more effecient in its handling.
    • Also fixed the Edit, Clear, Cancel, and form catching

version 1.7
(Facebook decides to change Composer Prompt to be inside the text box)

  • Got the status to appear after the breaking by facebook.

version 1.6

  • Clear status is back!
  • Any url that is posted in a status, now will have a link attached.
If you experience any odd behaviors with this feature, please let me know.
  • Made sure that the status will stay visible no matter what scripts are installed.

version 1.5
(Facebook decides to change the chat window to longer have your status in it)

  • Facebook changed the chat to no longer include your status. It is now reworked to search for the status based on a string search. It works, but it takes a small bit longer. However, the clear button currently does not work.
  • Corrected an assumption I made that the script would always be in the same place. It now does one more search to guarantee the location so no errors occur.
  • Now it removes the backslashes Facebook adds to protect it's inputs.
  • Checks for a null, (cleared), status.
  • Corrects a bug where if a chat window is open it would take their status

version 1.4

  • Large bug fix here: I fixed it so it replaces all < with &lt; and > with &gt; so if you randomly talk about a <button>, or any other tag for that matter, it won't throw the entire status to the swine.
  • The previous version placed a period after the status in the display if it did not end in period. Updated to include exclamation points, question marks, double quotes, and single quotes.

version 1.3

  • Changed to not disable, but rather just remove it right away.
  • Changed certain spaces to non-breaking spaces in order to group the layout better, and feel less broken.

version 1.2

  • Minor bug fix. If you cleared your status and then entered a new one it had stayed disabled. Now it works.

version 1.1

  • Added the clear button. While waiting for facebook to update the status to clear, it will make the current status appear grey.
  • Added the edit button. This allows you to quickly modify your status. It also allows you to cancel. (I will work on auto cancel on click outside).
  • Added lots of code to make sure this updates when you update it from either the chat window, or from the composer prompt box.

I highly recommend you install the Facebook URL Cleaner script.
