Facebook DeTwitterFier

Script Summary: Makes wall posts distinguishable from other happenings, and makes the new Facebook a little bit less like a Twitter clone, and more like Facebook. I love Twitter and Facebook, but they are different, and should be kept that way.

Version: 0.1.1

Currently, this script does the following:

  • Gives wall posts a blue background, as well as formatting them more like wall posts (text on a new line, date up on top)
  • Hides statuses that start with a capital letter (indicating a Twitter-like post instead of a real status)
  • Modifies attachment posts (like photo uploads) to be less Twitter-like
  • Adds a link to the Feed Settings page on the left-hand side

Each of these behaviors is now configurable with added checkboxes on the Feed Settings page. This update also takes care of a few edge cases. There is still a big problem, however, with Facebook switching pages without actually loading a new page, which causes these fixes not to work. I'm working on figuring out a way to detect this change and re-scan the page. For now, refreshing the page will make it work. I welcome any suggestions!

Enjoy...if more things annoy me, I will fix them too, and I hope to make configuration easier, without editing the script. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions!
