AmazonPermalink

Last update on May 29, 2006

Put a permalink icon on every Amazon item's page.

This puts a permalink icon on every Amazon product product page. The URL for that icon will be much shorter than the one in the Location bar. For example, here's a normal page URL:

  http:<wbr>/</wbr><wbr>/www.amazon.</wbr><wbr>com</wbr><wbr>/gp</wbr><wbr>/product</wbr><wbr>/0596001789</wbr><wbr>/ref=cm_lm_fullview_prod_1</wbr><wbr>/102-4270881-3507316?%5Fencoding=UTF8</wbr><wbr>&v=glance</wbr><wbr>&n=283155</wbr>

And here's its permalink URL:

  http://amazon.com/dp/0596001789

Much handier for passing around!

This should work for all products (i.e., not just books), on all Amazon sites (i.e., not just amazon.com, but also amazon.de, etc).

Opps...it doesn't work anymore.
Could you please update the script?
It's really useful.

OK, the button is rather smaller now. It used to say "Permalink", but that was a bit obtrusive, so now it just uses the permalink symbol, ยง

Is there any way to combine this with the AmazonAffiliate script? http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/558

I'd love to be able to create affiliate links on the fly.

This works quite nicely. I wish the little button was a bit less garish and more to the right (as it overlaps sometimes with the title), but it certainly is useful for my Wikipedia articles!
