Myspace Annoyance Removal
Removes the Cool New People, the Featured Profile, the block ads, the ad at the top of the page, and other assorted annoyances. Optionally removes certain elements on a per-profile basis. It even updates automatically!
This script is not compatible with MySpace.com at this time and I am re-writing it in order to account for changes to the interface.

I've been busy being a student. As of now, this script, especially the update engine, is nonfunctional. PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL IT! I'm working on an updated version for MySpace's new interface/layout. |

Update for the newest MySpace interface, please. Thanks. |

i tried to do the removal with the code listed above & it didn't work. What did it mean by "in stylish?" |

To truly remove ALL annoyances from Myspace, use this CSS code (in Stylish):
body {display: none !important;}

Wow this is amazing! I loathe advertisements. You are my hero. I am very pleased. |

Hi, could you post code, or add an option to make the "Is This Profile Annoying?" link to appear in the top right corner of the 'Contact Table' as opposed to the top centre of the 'Network Banner'?

Whoops!! I just answered part of my question. James B wrote: Sorry to be a pest, but I've been messing with this all day, and I've rewritten it so it doesn't ever rely on counting [td] tags, which is what probably broke it in some situations. After extensive testing, it appears MySpace retains full functionality, while the ads on every page have been turned off. My version is at http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/7049 " So I guess that's version 5.3. |

Hi, First I want to say that I love this script and that I follow it's progress frequently. Ok, now for my questions. 1.) Which version is the newest? This version says 5.2 However, the version of the script at this link: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/7049 is 5.3. 2.) Even using this script I still see the "Cool New Videos" and "Featured Filmmaker, Comedy, Music, etc." boxes. Any ideas? Keep up the great work! |

@Daniel: I read in another comment that you were working on implementing a Bayesian anti-spam engine into your script. That would be a GREAT idea. I just signed up here, so I'm not sure how to contact you, but if you could send me an email, I will get back with you and see what I can do to help. Thanks! (Sorry if the HTML is broken!) PS - Does this script have the same features as Ad Slicer for MySpace? Can you use it in conjunction with that script or would that be unnecessary? |

Yes.. I should fix that. Wait for an update. It'll be in there. Meanwhile, just disable it for that page. |

This is great but when you goto view friends, it messes up. Is there away to fix it? |

Last post and I'll say I've beat it to death. I stupidly started spreading my new one around before realizing that when I punched the notice code at the bottom back in (I was testing without it) it broke all the various myspace pages. I figured out the problem was that the notice was being attached outside of the html tags, so I told it to attach it to the two most common footer ids ("footer" and "msft") instead and not to show it if neither of those exist, and it works! |

Ah, to fix the updater bug just edit it and make sure the version variable further in is changed from 5.0 to 5.1. Seems he just forgot. Thanks again! |

Hey. Just found this and I'm already relieved of the annoying box ad and will therefore keep it. However, its not stopping the top bar ad and it keeps insisting that it needs to be updated, despite the fact I have the Jan 9 version. |

Rejected Creations link doesn't seem to work. |

I fixed the problem. I just added

This script is not letting the javascript to show the next page of friends. If I go to "view all my friends" it will not go to second page of friends. When I disable this script it works fine. I appreciate the help and good work with the script. |

Great script really tidies up the page, you rock! |
|

all of these myspace "fixers" seem to slow my load... |

For those of you having issues replying to others with this script, it's very easy to fix. 1. Go to the Greasemonkey options (right-click the monkey head).

Bug: Cannot reply to messages when this script is running. Good script, in need of a fix. |

Must need an update on this one. No longer removing the "Cool New People" |
|
|
It would be better if you could get rid of the Get MySpace Mobile Alerts! New!
links as well as the "Tell People About Your MySpace" box. And even if you moved the stats box to be under the friends or something Cuz it looks out of place after the ads are removed |

I like the script... I hate the call in update feature, that should be an option to add not to take out.
