Script Summary: lets you ban (sort of) people on haloscan, and alternately colours the comments for readability

Haloscan is an ugly and hard to read service filled with trolls and idiots. This script aims to make it easier and pleasurable to read and help you filter the useless and insulting from the interesting.

What it does:

  • Moves the byline to the top of the comment.
  • Alternates the colours of the comments between white and a light shade of grey.
  • Puts a red [X] at the end of the byline which you can click on to hide/unhide all comments from that commenter. Hiding the comments dissapears the comment body, leaving only the byline without bolding.
  • Moves to new comments when you refresh a page.
  • Prevents you from entering more text in a comment than the maximum comment length.
  • Forces the comments to appear in your preferred chronological order.
  • Has a floating bit of text that tells you how many comments are in a thread and lets you go straight to the last unread (doesn't work properly on IE).
  • Has a settings panel at the bottom of a comment thread for some customisation and disabling/enabling of above features.
  • Rich text editor for comments. No more overrun italics and a simpler experience.
