Script Summary:
Automatically hides posts on Craigslist which look like spam. Also provides a link to quickly flag posts as spam while hiding them.

This script was written for the purpose of hiding fake (as in spam) classified ads on craigslist. It is not perfect (and never will be!) but it does detect and hide the majority of spam ads. It also adds a handy "spam" link next to the subject of every ad that you can click to automagically hide AND flag the post as spam.

There are a few things left to implement, including 'deep' spam detection, which will automagically look inside the ad body for typical spam identifiers. URLs, for example. Also on the TODO list is a user-configurable set of filters.

Update v0.080728:

  • Fixed a bug in the AJAX callback which prevented some posts from being internally flagged properly. This fix makes the script work faster and lightens the network load on the servers.
  • Added a new filter to check capitalization on the subject and 'evil locations'.
