Better Directories

Makes HTTP(S) directories more functional- always sortable and with proper icons + look like FTP directories i.e. much better. Currently it works on a large but limited number of directories. Firefox 3 ONLY.

Now as standalone Firefox Addon at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/....

I plan to expand it to be able to handle all but a few 'default' directories.

An example of what it does can be found at: http://dev.novemberborn.net/sifr3/nightlies/ and many others, styling them to look like this: http://mozillalinks.org/wp/wp-content/uploads/2... .

I don't know why some form of this was incorporated into Firefox; oh well. At the moment, this only works in Firefox 3 - it uses chrome files, but I may change that.

Last change:
- Made "US" format of date (mm/dd/yyyy). If you get the standalone version and have the locale "en-GB" you should still get dd/mm/yyyy though.
- Reduced number of false positives by listing things which should not be on a directory: script, link and form tags; HTML comments.

I just released a new version: basically added a list of things which should not be on applicable directories, no guarantees though. http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn is definitely fixed.

Would like to get a list of specific sites that do not work now.

Many many flaws. Screws up several web sites.

No offense

http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn isn't an apache directory listing, that's why. but it shouldn't be modifying it either.

It breaks this page (and some others):

Basically that's because of the iframe at the top: Firefox has a bit of an issue with Javascript and frames of all descriptions, hence the problem.

I thought I had fixed it though, by preventing the script from running on pages with iframes, until I find a better solution. Am looking into it.

Love the script. Keep it up. And maybe sometime in the future, make the icons animated with a sprite sheet :)
