nytimesadlinkremover

Removes advertising links on the nytimes

nytimes main page - removes add links on the lower left and the new times select past columns links in the ugly box on the right.
Now removes times select links also. When used with ablock to remove the pictures it makes the nytimes nearly ad-free.

The nytimes

censors the news it prints
and has abdicated their duty as
watchdogs of the government

so I will continue to update this script, block their ads and refuse to subscribe until noticeable improvements are made.

4/7/06 Updated for new layout.

8/21/06 removes old column adbox and rewrites javascript popups to normal html links

Since the nytimes got rid of timesselect this script is mostly outdated. Now I just use adblock plus with element hiding to accomplish the same result without so much processing.

Just copy the following text and save it as a text file and then import it into adblock plus:

(Adblock Plus 0.7 or higher required) [Adblock]

This script is not for subscribers. It is too bad that the nytimes subscribers are still bombarded with ads even though they are paying for the service.

Nice work, but it removes necessary links when logged in. I am a subscriber to the crossword puzzle annually, but when this script is added to FF, it kills my ability to get to the links that launch the puzzle(s).

You could comment on this script if you were logged in.
