GM French monkey

The best online French to English translator

As a novice French speaker, I constantly need the services of French to English Translator while reading articles/blogs/posts on French web sites.

Using Babel fish or google translator was a real pain as I had to copy/past all the time.
Not to mention the fact that i had to move away from the page I was just reading just to find out the meaning of a certain word which caused a real headache.

So, i decided that i need a "on the spot , never leave the page I was on" translator.
I'm sure there (probably) are solutions but decided it would take by far less to time to write something on my own that would fit exactly to what I need instead of spending time searching for solutions that might not be ideal.

So once you get GM French monkey , you'll be able to get on the spot translation (Google based) displayed on a small floating pop op.

To top it all, if you'll press on the link "click here to hear the sound", you'll be able to also hear the French pronunciation (with additional explanation in French) to the translated word (do not use more then a single translated word when using this option).

Note 1: this service is provided by http://dictionnaire.mediadico.comoption and it might respond slowly.
Note 2: when clicking the "click here to hear the sound", a child popup window will appear (hosting http://dictionnaire.mediadico.comoption). when you're done listening, you'll need to close this window. In future I'll consider closing it automatically.

Hi Alan
Thanks for the feedback
As to your question, please note that there's a "<<" link. if you'll click on it , you'll be able to see the set of texts that were translated. This can be copied (copy & past ) onto when ever you need.
Regards
Karol

Wonderful tool. It's great to be reading along on lemonde.fr, and be able to translate remarks about international law & diplomacy without having to dig for a dictionary.

There is a puzzle for me--I can't figure out the display how to display the translation history mentioned in these comments. If I can get that, I can build a set of study notes.

version 1.03 released.
I had to update the script due to changes Google made to it's translate interface.

Enjoy

Script was updated:
* pane color was changed to yellow
* Font color to black
* There was also a nasty bug where the translation window didn't reposition itself when scrolling. this was fixed.

enjoy

I found out yesterday that Google translate service suspects use abuse when running this script (probably when the translation rate is fast).

So I've updated the script to move to babelfish in case Google refuses to translate.
Once you get click again, moving to babelfish message, reselect and you're done
