Online Video Stripper 3.1: Stream Ripper Edition
If you are on a video page, this sends a copy of your current url to keepvid.com, and requests a link to the file being streamed. It then creates a new body for the page with a link to the original page and a direct link to the FLV, MP4, or whatever source was being streamed. Sites tested and working include youtube, veoh, megavideo, google video, zippyvideos, putfile, myspace, break, dailymotion, lulu.tv, and metacafe..

Question:"Why don't you use the VLC firefox plugin?" I have not had huge success with it. Also, by downloading them I can rewatch them whenever I want, I can make playlists, and I can watch it full screen with little or no lag on Ubuntu 8.04. And again, newest version is here:

^_^ New update!
Online Video Stripper 4. Now instead of remaking the entire page, it just appends it to the top, so that you can still watch it normally if you wish. |

Why don't you use the VLC firefox plugin? |

Some people are having issues with the new script. If you have problems with version 3.1 (Which allows you to use 3 random sites), feel free to try out 3.0, which I re uploaded for your convenience. |

I updated the script to version 3.1. Changes include the adding of several new video websites, and ability for it to distribute requests randomly between 3 sites (The site you use will be listed on the page created). ^_^ It is turning into a very decent script at this point, please mention any changes you might wish for. |

Please note: This script is used by me since I use Ubuntu Linux. The flash plugin for Ubuntu (And all Linux Distros) is horrible, and uses 90-100% of your CPU playing a single Youtube video.
To fix this, I created this script that gives you a direct link to the video, so that you can either save it to your hard drive or play it with VLC media player. This does not embed the video, because that would defeat the whole point of me doing this! |
