Jmaxxz vulgar word blocker v3.01.02
Censor the Net, and browse with confidence
Version: 3.01.02
*What is the difference between Jmaxxz Vulger Word Blocker, and Jmaxxz Vulger Word Blocker+?*
*The only difference is Jmaxxz Vulger Word Blocker+ filters domain names.*
This means if you go to www.(some bad word).com it will redirct you to www.(some acceptable word).com
Both scripts are basic swear word - bad word changers. They work VERY WELL, and catch most swear words.
If you want to improve the code, or report a glich (like if it changes a word that it shouldn't) send me an email Click here to send me an email
or leave a comment.
You still will see some bad words if you visit sites that are packed full of them, but it should catch most of them
use this script AT YOUR OWN RISK,
(have to say that so if something goes wrong you don't sue me)
*Please post your comments*, I would like to know what you think.
If you are using Jmaxxz Vulgar Word Blocker+ you can go to www.1t2e3s4t5test.com and watch it wisk you away to a different site. (just incase you want to see how the new feature works)

Great script, but I can't get the script to work with words preceded by a space, for instance the following syntax doesn't work in the script:

The new version is excellent and easier to edit! Thank you very much. I updated my script using your new code with some minor changes. One thing I did that you might want to add is add the word "d**k" (lowercase) in the "case sensitive" section. I figure if the "D" in the word is uppercase, it's a name; and if it's lowercase, it's a swear word. Anyways, thanks again, one of these days I'll get around to learning javascript better. ;) |

Hey thanks for the comment! When you make free software it is always nice to know someone uses and likes what you have made.

I Love this script!! I'm not a script writer (I don't understand that stuff) so I am very grateful that you made this script!! |

Ah I see what you mean... This should not happen with to many words, because I also have a grammer exception for most words. There are a couple that don't. I will get try and fix is soon so all of the english teachers out there can surf the web :) I will try to get a new version that catches more grammer-specific rules in the next month. Thanks for the tip! |

Jmaxxz(tm): Thanks for the tip on white-listing sites. It works!!! Having used the script for about a couple of weeks at most, I don't see any words misidentified at all; the replacements are very appropriate. I don't know anything about scripts but am curious about this one scenario: say, "jamo" is a verb and will be replaced with "joke". All is okay until you have "jamoing" in the original text. The script will then replace it with "jokeing" (misspelled, "e" should have been dropped) instead of "joking" (correctly spelled). Indeed, "joking" follows acceptable grammar rules. A modified script addressing this grammatical issue will allow English teachers across the land to rejoice!!! Thanks! |

Hey Mozmoster glad you like this script.I like your Ideas but I am not that good with scripts, my mainly program in C#. So if anyone has any tips let me know. I can tell you a couple things that you will like. first
Secondly if you want to customize this script go ahead. Just give credit to those who helped me make this one. Then let me know, I'll look at your script, and if it is good I will reference it. In terms of Grammar specific rules I did that to a certain extent. to show you what I did I will use the imaginary bad word Jamo.__________________JAMO becomes JOKE while Jamo becomes Joke, and jamo turns to joke. I could not do much with punctuation because . and ? cause the script to screw up.___________________________________________________________________ |

I agree that if people don't want bad language, they shouldn't write it in the first place. The suggested script gives them a chance to decide if they really want to post all that $#@*&!@ when hitting the send/post button. It might sound silly but it's about user choices. For users who post in many different types of forum (G and Rated, for example), this would be a tremendous help. Speaking of "silliness," a hidden feature of vulgar word blocker is that it can be made into a vulgar word "maker," have you noticed? By replacing good words/politically correct words with bad ones of your choice. I think there is already a script that does that. Again, it's about browing the net on your terms and that people need a chance to decide whether they want their $#@*&!@ be permanently chronicled on the Internet! __________________________________________

How could that stop bad language? Are you suggesting that people that swear should install this script so as to censur themselves? If they don't like themselves swearing, why would they do it in the first place? Sounds extremly silly. |
|
|
Instead of "fixing" the bad language on webpages, why not "preventing" it from getting published in the first place? We can do it, one webform at a time and by choice. I am not a programmer, but I think this means tweaking the current script to block and replace text in webforms when the submit/send/post button is clicked on. The rules can be set up on a per-site basis so the user can tone themselves down only where (or when) they want to do so. Of course, user choice is paramount since adults don't always want to censor themselves. |

This so far has been a tremendous script! Just a few suggestions here to make it even better. Say, you want to replace "truCK" with "skiP", then when the original text is "truCKing", the script replaces it with "skiPing" -- which disregards English spelling rules (should have added another P to become "skiPPing" instead.) Some other rules also apply like in the case of strawberry -> strawberries? Have you thought about grammar-specific rules like these so that the script is still fun AND educational? Also, if the original page has the word "skiping", how would I know which word was the author's and which was replaced by blocker? Can the script have an exclusion list of sites that I don't want text blocked and replaced? Other than these, keep up the great work! |
|
|
But you still need to upadate your script, I changed the frame. If you don't understand contact me at: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=3... Once you make this update I will reference your script as a good alternative (untill then you may not have the level that this one does) Good luck. |

Very nice! I liked it so much that I even did a little editing to make another one. ;) Anyways this is probably the most useful add-on that I've used, so nice work. I also fixed my censor's description to give you credit. |
