Developer Update (24 Nov 2010)

This script was last updated in March 2008. Since then, I have moved on to other things. Needless to say, I have stopped development on this script since then and do not plan to continue it's development. To be clear, this has nothing to do with clixsense's comments or their "review". I just happened to be looking for a piece of code and found that clixsense had left a message.

For some reason, clixsense seems to have an issue with this script. I'm not going to waste my time responding to this on a script I have no plan on resurrecting. While they have threatened to sue me, I believe that I'm protected by the GPL, which explicitly says that I am not responsible for how people use this script. Users should be aware that clixsense has threatened to have the script censored.

So for historical purposes, this script will remain on this site until userscripts.org decides to get rid of it. But since I'm a believer in the First Amendment, I have also copied the script to a pastebin. Please see that it gets plenty of distribution. Outside of clixsense's objections, this script does do some clever things so feel free to take bits and pieces of the code and apply it to your own work.

Furthermore, to make things better for you, I am duel-licensing this script under both the GPL 3.0AND the MIT License. You choose how you want to use it. For those of you unfamiliar with the MIT license, the largest difference between the MIT license and the GPL license is you do not need to release the source code of the script under a similar license. Hopefully, those who still use clixsense can continue where I left off and license it however you want.

Finally, I will no longer be checking this account. Clixsense, in case you haven't figured it out, I used a throw-away e-mail address that everyone has access to. This is why I haven't responded to any e-mails you have sent. I will be randomizing the password and deleting it, forever locking the account.

Change log

  • 0.1 -- Initial Release
  • 0.3 -- 11 Feb 2008
    • Checks to make sure there aren't more than 10 links per page.
In the event that Clixsense decides to test for automatic scripts, this script will make sure that there are only 10 links or less per page. Obviously, if there are 6 links and the script detects 7, that will be a problem. It will be fixed in a future release.
    • Added timeout counter.
    • Removes links after they have been visited.
    • Cleaned up the code a little
  • 0.3.1 -- 9 Mar 2008
    • Script will no longer show an alert when all links have been processed.
  • 0.3.2 -- 24 Nov 2010
    • Duel licensed script to include the MIT License; no functional change.

This script is officially deprecated and is no longer active

Development of this script stopped in 2008. There will be no additional releases under this script name.

Please note that you use this script at your own risk.

From the ClixSense.com FAQ:
I have been offered an automated system (Bot) to view Clix. Is this permitted?
To protect the integrity of the ClixSense.com advertising system “Bots” that automate the viewing of clix are strictly prohibited. Advertisers have paid for unique views of their product/service. To safeguard the value of their advertising dollar the ClixSense.com Fraud Prevention Department regularly reviews accounts for violations. Any account found to be in violation is suspended and any commissions earned are immediately returned to the advertiser. If your account arises the suspicion of using a "bot" or "autoclicker" your account will be terminated and earned monies returned to the advertisers without question. All decisions by ClixSense.com security department are final.

Full disclosure

There are some features that will never be included in this script. I believe in using Greasemonkey to make surfing a lot easier; this does not include, however, "cheating the system." There is plenty of potential to use these types of scripts to simulate multiple users, thus affording the user to increase his referrals artificially. Personally, I think this crosses a line. I will modify and improve this script for the use by one individual person. Please do not ask for feature requests that violate this tenant.

Another boundary that I have set is to allow the links to completely load onto your computer. If you use the iframe option, the page will not be visable, but it will still load in the background. I believe doing so fulfills the agreement that you have a chance to view the page. This behavior will not change.

All in all, this script exists to make browsing clixsense easier. It is not made to be a milking machine. Notice that this script will always be free (as in beer and speech). I will never ask you to sign up listing me as a referral.

Use the script. Enjoy life. Prosper.
