LJ Thread Unfolder - Unfold All, All layouts

Last update on Nov 24, 2007

Expands nested discussion threads in place, works with all layouts.

This is a script that once worked back in the day of shitty layouts, since we now have the beauty that is "Smooth Sailing" (and more) I have updated this script to work properly using that layout (for the most part).

I know it's a little wonky and doesn't keep your default layout on unfolded comments but if there's interest I'll spend a little more time tinkering to make it work properly with not only smooth sailing but many more layouts.

Stick around for updates!

Update 1:
I've fixed it so that this should work with all layouts now, original and S2.
I've also added the unfold all back to the script

Update 2:
Sped up unfolding and fixed a bug that caused blank bars when using safari with greasekit. Also updated a few layout bugs, should be more compatible with all layouts now.

Update 3:
Fixed compatibility with Opera, requires a greasemonkey userjs script found here: http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/operaStuff/userjs/...
Added insanejournal.com and greatestjournal.com to the included scripts

Update 4:
Made script even more compatible with more layouts

Update 4.1:
More of the same
Added journalfen.net to included scripts

Update 4.2:
Fixed for more layouts, again!

Is there any chance of getting this script modified to recurse down the comment thread like this script (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/5552) did when it still worked properly on LJ?

If LJ ever adds their thread expander to free accounts it will be moot, but right now expanding one comment at a time on long threads in free journals and communities is tedious (and unfold all can hang the browser if there are LOTS of comments to unfold).

any chance we could get you to take a look at the friend of unhide script that got abandoned a while back? http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/2141

LOL, I saw you updated but I was wondering why it isn't working...But then I re-installed it, because I guessed I had old Smoothie version only, and it works now! Thank you!!
Just, I'm having problems with installing scripts in Opera (generally, with this script only). I tried to do it for 'remove LJ ads' thingy, but I just don't know how...:(

I should have specified in my last comment - "Unfold" works, but there's no "Unfold All" link in the Expressive layouts.

This is my favorite script ever. Is there any chance you're working on making it compatible with the Expressive layouts?

@Olivia
I'm working on a fix for that layout, hopefully I'll have that available soon.

@leeds11
did you install this script first? http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/operaStuff/userjs/...

You'll probably have to rename one of the scripts, this script needs to load before my script so picking a name like 1111.js will ensure that it loads first.

hi! For some reason it doesn't work with my Opera. Do I need to do anything else beside installing it?
Thanks!

doesn't work for me. Checked it on the community bad_service if you want to see what layout I was working with.

I may do that, though I'm not too sure where I could put the "Unfold all" link, any suggestions?

Thanks! Downloaded and it's working! But would it be possible to make option to 'Unfold all'?
