Gmail Label Colors NG

Last update on Nov 19, 2007

This script is abandoned because GMail now supports labels officially: http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2007/12/gmail-adds-label-colors.html

v0.3 Optionally colors the labels if they have a #color suffix (eg. "flickr ##FF0084 #white"). It's compatible with the new GMail design (GMail2.0)

Can someone please post how to set colors for certain labels? For example, I have a label called "top priority" and would want this label highlighted in red. I have installed this script into Greasemonkey ,went to edit this script, but I need the next few steps. Thanks in advance!

I'm getting colors when an email's subject line contains something like "Bug #4859"

additionally, its interesting to mention that in the new gmail version a manual inbox refresh kills the colors wheras in the older version it does not. Perhaps this is a hint to what is causing the refresh color loss?

My label colors vanish and its driving me nuts. The problem was the same on the old script, but it was less annoying because the colors were hardwired in the script so that #red didn't show up in the label whenever the color vanished. I have tried turning off all my add-ons and tweaking all my fox and gmail settings that seemed even remotely relevant. The colors go on fine at first and then turn off after what appears to be an inbox refresh. They will not come back after a manual gmail inbox refresh but they do come back after a full page refresh or after doing a gmail search (or label action). In the new version, the coloration of the label markers in the sidebox is not affected. Any ideas?

Is there a possibility to hardcore the labelcolors into the script like in the old version?

I know that Firefox 3.0 isn't officially supported by Greasemonkey or by your script, but I just wanted to let you know that it's not working with the 3.0b2 builds.

Great work otherwise! I really enjoy this script and it allows for great customization with the background and foreground colors. Thanks!

Thanks for updating this! I find the script really useful. Just one small problem--the new version colors the entire label area, so if you have multiple labels, they are all colored one color. And for some reason #brown made the label disappear entirely?

You need to do away with flickr ##???? because I am getting issues saying label too long on some.

Any plans to make it like the olds one where you just type #red

Karaszi,

Firstly, thank you for updating this script.

I am also having the same issue with the new Gmail Macros script. I used to use both the label color and macro script successfully, and would like to continue to do so.

Any chance you could address this conflict? It would be greatly appreciate.

Kind regards,

/s

trentono: i think it's because i'm replacing the node with a different one to not have the color suffix

there seems to be a conflict with the new version of GMail Macros. attempting to use the macros to label something with a colour suffix doesn't work.

for example, attempting to label something 'MyLabel #000000' results in an error/alert box claiming that GMail cannot find the node 'MyLabel' (it does not seem to look for the label+suffix, just the label).
