This script no longer works. I shifted to a faster PC with wider screen monitor and quality mouse wheel. So, label list and chat list fight is not much problem now. And it is frustrating to adapt the script to every bit of change in Gmail. Therefore, I will not maintain this script anymore.
General Information:
Gmail's new look (2012) tries to fit label list and chat list on the visible screen instead of extending through the page. This is quite annoying if you have many labels and friends. Label list and chat list collapse, expand, fight each other; a scrollbar appears, disappears; you try to grab the scroll bar... This script solves all the problems.
Tested with Firefox 3.6.28 and Firefox 12
Currently not compatible with The Return of Old Gmail
