MySpace Home - Customize it!

Version 1.24 - For the NEW Home Skin. Customize your homepage to exactly the way you want it. Place things in the left/center/right column or the NEW full-length top/bottom rows! Author: Seifer.

If you've just updated from a version before 1.22 and it broke your homepage or if you keep getting the update alert

You must go into GreaseMonkey (right click the monkey and press Manage User Scripts)
Find "MySpace - Home Customiz' it" (notice the lack of an E at the end of customize)
Select it and press uninstall.

This script is for the NEW Myspace Home Skin!

This script will not work on the old skin.

What does it do?

This script allows you to position all the parts of the user homepage to exactly where you want them. Place things in the left, center, or right column or place them in the new "full-length" top or bottom rows! You can even hide parts completely-and don't worry! It's not hard to use!

For added functionality, this script works with InsaneNinja's Home Skin Switchup and InsaneNinja's Home Auto-Update

Screen Shots

Click the picture to get a bigger view. (This is an old version.)

This is the default layout when you install this script and use it with InsaneNinja's two scripts.
You can change it as much or as little as you want. Highlights! Did you notice the redesigned Control Panel in the top "full length" row? Or how about the resized columns?

How do I do it?

Well, it's really simple! Install the script, then open it with any text editor (notepad will do fine!) You'll find these instructions in the file..
	/* ==================================================================================
	Change the variables below to setup your home page exactly how you want!
	-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
	Use the letters to position the different "pieces" of the homepage in each column.
	The first letter is the top, the last number is the bottom.

		EG. LEFT_COLUMN = 'ABE';	Would show from top to bottom in the left column,
									your profile pic, your control panel, and then
									your friends' status updates.
	A	Profile
	B	Updates
	C	Control Panel - **See the comment below**
	D	Various Useful Links
	E	Friend Status
	F	Bulletin Space
	G	Friend Space
	H	SquareAd (at top of the right column)
	I	Featured Profile
	J	Sponsored Links
	K	Various 'marketing' ads box
	L	Flash Ad below Featured Profile
	M	MySpace Annoucement (message from Tom)
	N	Today Heading
	O	UserScript Link-Backs
	P	Friend Updates
	Q	Address Book (Find Your Friends..)

	**If you use the Control Panel in the full length top or bottom rows it will be
	redesigned to use less space. Try it out to see what I mean! It's really nice
	in the top row!

	======================= RESIZE_TYPE =========================
	Use the RESIZE_TYPE variable to set whether or not to resize the standard columns if
	the right column is not used.
	0 = do not resize
	1 = resize both the left and middle column to use an equal amount of space
	2 = do not resize left column, stretch center column to use right column space also
	=====================================================================================*/
And this is the bit you have to edit.. (lines 47-53)
	RESIZE_TYPE		= 2; // See help above

	FULL_TOP_ROW		= "CM";
	LEFT_COLUMN			= "AB";
	CENTER_COLUMN		= "NFE";
	RIGHT_COLUMN		= "P";
	FULL_BOTTOM_ROW		= "GO";

I suggest everyone takes a look at my other custom homepage script.

It isn't customizable but it's a very nice layout and works with InsaneNinja's auto update.
Check it out!

At the moment the screen shot is from an older version but just read through the description, disable any other MySpace homepage scripts you have and try it out.

@Kythca
I can't test this but it may work for you if you disable InsaneNinja's auto update.

I know his script has a problem with that at the moment (due to the homepage changing). You can read more bout that in the comments on his script page.

Like I said, I can't test it, mine may also have a problem but I don't think it will.

Kay for some reason the control panel is not cooperating anymore. I double checked the id for it and it has not changed, but it won't go where i want it anymore, and when it finishes loading it looks messed up (screen: http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q176/msandie... )

Help?

this script would be sweet if its compatible with

&
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/24394

so they can can be movable and arrange them along with the 2 its already compatible with

So i have been able to modify this script for some of the things that myspace has added. But i've not been able to figure out the apps. That is, i was able to get the appnavigation part, but not the individual apps. They don't have div ids as far as i can tell... Anyone if this is something we can control and move???

would it be possible for you to make one of the resize options to be that all of the top 3 rows are made to be equal size?

I would like to use my layout like this http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/8384/userscr...
but whatever I put in the left is a little too squished.
great script, I have it installed all over the place

...HALP!!

In the friend space, my online friends appear with their name to the left of their default picture, not above it. Top friends, on the other hand, display correctly.

Example:

Cheers.

Any suggestions?

That sounds like a great idea.
If I ever get time to update this I will look into it.
At the moment my life is just really busy.

Sorry to everyone that was using the script or wanted to.

here's a recommendation.

Allowing for users to add widgets to the Home page. I'd like to add the Me.dium widget that allows me to see other Me.dium users on my myspace page.

Also linking in a google calander widget would be useful as well.

I'm sure there are others that think such things could be useful. Simply adding a section where we can fill in the space with the javascript or link to the object and assign a letter for allowing placement in the columns.

thank you sean, I used your first suggestion and it worked perfect.
for those who don't have a text edit that shows what # each line is, just put it below the "STOP EDITTING HERE UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!" text.

thank you very much sean

or if you have adblock add this to your filters:
myspace.com#DIV(id=ctl00_cpMain_MarketingBox_Skin_userHomeTabs_userHomeTabs)
Dunno if this will work unless you have Element Hiding Helper

@Alan
add this piece of code to line 59 or 60:
GM_addStyle('#ctl00_cpMain_MarketingBox_Skin_userHomeTabs_userHomeTabs, #advert, #footer { display:none!important; }');
