Social networks get in the way of productivity. Google started placing that notification bar in every single service they are running. That includes Gmail, Google search, News, etc.
Instead of getting distracted by that alarming red notification, this user script will just mute. You can turn it back on when you want no distractions.
Google has important services that we use daily for work, research and etc. But being distracted with all these notifications is a time waster, hopefully this extension would help waste less time on Google+ and spend more time innovating and changing the world :)
