Google Search Results Ultimate Makeover. VER: 2

The ultimate Google Makeover. FEATURE RICH! Now includes compatibility with Googlepedia

2/15/2008
- Updated the Videoembed code.
1/30/2008
- A user opened my eyes to the gloriousness of Googlepedia. So in return I have redid some of the code to accommodate the extension. As well as a matching skin for it. Enjoy!
- Removed Site Advisor support. Hasn't been working for a while.
- Updated the safe search code. Should work again. If it doesn't I may have to find another work around.
12/12/2007
- Minor code tweak.
12/02/2007
- Released version 2. The reason this is version 2 is because there are so many changes implemented. The changes are too numerous to list here. Read the feature list.
11/06/2007
- Unhid the "Cached - Similar pages - Note this" links. I forgot that I hid them, and at the request of a fan I removed that line of code
10/24/2007
- Added "Result Numbers"
- Revamped the fonts to utilize the snazzy new Vista fonts.

Features:

Features with an asterisk (*) by it means you can turn this feature on or off in the code
- Google Suggest
- Two column results*
- Custom coloredSnap Shots Previews*
- Result Numbers
- Custom logo. (Feel free to add your own if you wish)
- Layout change*
- Embeds videos right into the search results. You can easily change the colors of YouTube videos.*
- Re-titles the page to easily identify what you are searching for and the page that you are on.
- Google Search Filter
- Adds PageRank after each link*
- Add favicons to all links*
- Add a clear button*
- Add sidebar menu*
- Open links in new tab*
- Turns off SafeSearch Automatically

NOTE: If you have Adblock Plus, then please add this to your filter rules. @@http://*.snap.com/*. For help on how to do this, CLICK HERE
NOTE: The Previews do not work with any https:// links.

Known Bugs (these will be fixed):

- Site advisor often defaults to the "unsafe" status. I haven't found a work around yet. Stay tuned for a hotfix
- GooglePreview does not display correctly when Favicons are used.
- Side bar does no display when the CustomizeGoogle extension is used.
- Does not work with other styles.

I have ripped the css from this script and have uploaded it to userstyles.org.

It should stop the page jumping around when the page is loading as the css gets loaded before the page is loaded unlike the greasemonkey script which gets loaded after.

Not without messing up the script. Give me a few days and I'll have an option that allows you to enable or disable the (or even add your own) custom logo.

Awesome script.

I am just curious if there is a way to remove the custom logo?

Two-columns works for me.... maybe post a screenshot or something.

the Two-Column view does not seem to be working anymore. I turned off all the other scripts and styles I had been using, and made sure the Two-Column part of the script was set to "on". Anyone else seeing this?
Also, is there a simple way to edit the background color for the results, or make them transparent? I looked for them in the code, but couldn't find it.

If it has anything to do with the extension itself, then I have no ides.
Consult the extension's author and see if he can help you out.

Thanks for the compliments =)

Nice script!
Is it possible to change the googlepedia language (to german or others)? I don't know if the plugin itself is able to do so.
Thanks

I mean you can manually enable the 2-column display by going into the code and changing the line that says:
/*Two Column View*/
var tcv ="off";

Change the "off" to "on".

And I was a bit hasty with my previous statement. I'm sure that there is a way to do this. I will ask around in the forums and see what I can find.

Can you please readd the 2 page result functionality whenever you shrink the wikipedia sidebar?

Nevermind I think that I figured out what you we asking. Were you talking about the page link sidebar? If that's the case I can fix that really quick

I myself tried it with googlepedia and it seems to work fine as long as you disable the whole 2 row thing. So by work with it, do you mean skin the wikipedia sidebar?

@ahoier
Another thing that I'd like to add.
If you'd like to completely remove the box do this:

and the refresh the page:

BINGO no result.

I think that is what you were looking for.

@ahoier
I dunno if you have the latest version or not, but I have since added a portion that one to collapse site descriptions. Here's how to do it.
1.
2. Refresh the results.
3. @joneswak
I may or may not add an option to open in a new window, instead of a new tab. It depends on how I'm feeling =D

Great script!!!

One request/suggestion:
Google has an option "Open search results in a new browser window", but this doesn't apply when using your script. Pages are always opened in a new window. Can you add this as an option to your script?

something I would like to see, is the possibility of "flagging" *.blogspot.com blogs as "bad" from the search results.....

This would help me greatly, since I do a lot of spamvertiste investigations - which also results in many research results pointing to Blogspot "splogs"...

And well, it would help me by not having to go directly into the blog in order to hit the "flag" button...

And even then, some of these splogs have modified their templates to not show the flag button, so adding this function would be great. Of course as an option/toggle.

Hmm so it does work with customizegoogle....... >.>
I'll test it and verify it a bit later.
As for the user script command menu. I would love to do that, but I have no idea how to set it up. I can seem to find a good tutorial. It is, and has been, on the to do list for a while.

I just installed your script. It looks really nice and it seems to work with customizegoogle.

Suggestion:

Use "User Script Commands" so all the rich features are that much easier to set up.
