Script Summary: Adds 9 new buttons to Google's search pages, for faster and more efficient searches.

This is a script I wrote for personal use.

It adds 9 new buttons to Google's search pages to make faster and more efficient searches in the web.

Instructions

  • Make a Google search
  • Press the appropriate for your search button.

Features

  1. "Phrase" puts quotes around your search terms
  2. "PDFs" to search only for PDF (Acrobat Reader) documents.
  3. "Fora" to search only in sites with the term forum in their urls.
  4. "Nude" puts quotes around an actress's name plus the word ..."nude" and redirects to Google's Image Search for some naughty photos! (removed because I post this version as a more serious one!).
  5. "isoHunt" for searching for torrents.
  6. "PirateBay" for searching for torrents.
  7. "Skroutz" for searching for low prices in Greece.
  8. "SSL" redirects you search to Google's secure (SSL) site (Beta).
  9. "EN<=>GR" changes the english characters you typed to Greek and vice versa.

    10. I am planning a version with buttons on Google's page side-by-side with the "Search" button.. DONE!

    I am planning a version that changes the language of you search terms if you type them with your keyboard set to the wrong language.. DONE! (That was a VERY difficult task.)

    I use it all the time. I hope you find it useful!

    - The "Nude" button now opens direct to Google's Image Search.

    - Added a 9th button that exchange the search terms if you type them with the wrong language set to keyboard. (English/Greek).
    - The "SSL-On" button renamed to "SSL" to conserve space.

    - Added an 8th button to redirect to Google's encrypted search. Have in mind that it doesn't have the images portion yet.

    - [bugfix] The 7 buttons were attached under the Google's "safe search" but for some users this menu wasn't always visible. Now the buttons are located under the search field
    - The 3 search engines buttons (isoHunt, PirateBay, Skroutz) are now open their searches in a new tab/window.

    - Re-enabled the "Search Actress" Option (!) as Nude

    - Added a routine to distinguish the 2 possibilities of the q search parameter being the 1st or not in Google's Url.

    Known issues: the 9th button doesn't handle a few special characters like quotes. For the use that it was intended though works very well.
