Must have for older computers , Mar 16, 2012
Review written by Ako - see all my reviews (1)

Once I got out of my own way and labeled the script properly for opera, it's working perfectly.

I am running an old laptop and trying to view videos with either flash or webm makes my computer double as a hot plate, running at 65-70c. With a few options set in gnome-mplayer, (gecko-mediaplayer plugin) I can now watch the same videos with no noticeable difference in quality at 57c or under.

The only down side to this script is the fear that it may disappear someday as I can already tell it is going to be indispensable for my needs.

Many thanks for a slick, and thorough script.

There is no WMP plugin on YouTube in Safary + Ninjakit so I reinstalled previous version from 7.03.2012.Previous version is working fine.

Good Job, but it could be even better , Jan 12, 2012

Hi,

Good job. For a long time I used another script to replace flash-videos with my generic player. Since "Youtube without Flash auto" dows not work for me anymore I tried this one.

I like that it worked out of the box.

It would be fine if one could alter the default quality of videos played. If I alter the variable gVdoDefault to "High Definition MP4" it's fine, but there's no fallback if there is no video of that type.
Maybe you could include a test if the video is accessable and else load the next best quality available.

With "Youtube without Flash auto" you could set the options from within the browser via some external file. Have a look at it.

And the controls could easily look nicer ;)

Keep on,
Henne

White box where YT video should play , Jan 10, 2012
Review written by AdamW - see all my reviews (3)

Well, the ability to download youtube videos is a neat feature that is working for me, but in-browser playback does not. After selecting any video format, when I click the "Play" button, the video frame goes all white, and then nothing. No playback or anything.
This is on FF 10.0 (Mac/Lion).

Just what I wanted! , Jan 29, 2011

I just love the fact that it supports multiple sites! Sanity restored! Only a small suggestion . For youtube, please add functionality provided by YoutubeWithoutFlash - at least the quality selection part. ViewTube seems to default to the heaviest quality, straining my puny atom processor and slow net connection.
