Awesome, simple, and straightforward. That's all I have to say about it. Does just what it's suppose to do.

I think it's a copy of this script:

Changing review because I got it to work. If anyone else has problems with this, try disabling other youtube plugins (video downloaders and the like). I haven't looked through the disabled code, but my guess is a variable name was repeated and conflicted with this script. At any rate, everything is working perfectly and I can finally ditch those idiotic embedded ads.

makes youtube usable again , Dec 9, 2009

I run Firefox 3.5 on Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty). The script does exactly what it says: strips out the intrusion of ads being plastered onto the front of popular youtube clips. It stops autoplay, so after some of the clip has loaded, you have to push play to get it to start. Or you can wait for the whole thing to load, and then it'll start by itself.

I was motivated to find a cure for the ads when I was trying to watch an Attenborough segment on hummingbirds, and got smacked across the face with some strobing yellow and black nonsense first. Sorry, but the amount of effort Google or Youtube has put into Attenborough's work is worth maybe a small text ad at the bottom of the page. So I got angry and found this script. :D Thanks for writing it!
