It certainly does remove the hotspot shield banner - but it does render a number of "normal" webpages unreadable. So you'll have to manage your exclusion list on your own, whenever you see an unintentionally funky-looking page - www.howtogeek.com is an example hereof.

It works amazingly.

I was hoping to find a userscript to get rid of the annoying box at the top of each page, and sure enough, here it is!
