the emoticons listed on the facebook page work only when making a status.. however, they do not show up on other people's accounts. :( (they've asked me what the symbols meant)

I don't get it. It just shows emoticons to the right side of the page, doesn't actually include them. Clicking them does nothing. Don't know if its because I have the new Facebook layout which I got today (12/3/09).
