It can also be optimized if merged with some more programming and the the code merge all the images and output a pdf file instead. :)
But too much from GM script I think. Will see if It can be done with PHP. :)
I would like to thank you for this script, because in my country books are very very expensive.
Congratulations for your script, but Google Book changed and this script don’t work as before (don’t find the pages).
I think that we need to wait for new version.
This script provides you with links to all the pages of the book. In that sense it works well. What's confusing is what to do next. Many users seem to think that the books gets saved automatically, but they do not; another download manager has to be used (Flashgot or Downloadthemall) to copy all of the images from all of the links. However, this process is not easy to orchestrate and the resulting files aren't often arranged sequentially. Some documentation would be helpful though it can be found elsewhere on the web.
After finding the Google Book Downloader app didn't work on my computer, it took me a couple of days of searching to find this script.
After finally getting it installed, the first book I tried using it to download was a 366 page book.
I expected it to download as a single .pdf file, as the GBD claims to do.
Instead, it converted each page into individual .png files, each with it's own button to click and download. For the 355 page book, it created 634 .png files. The last few buttons extending below the status bar on the browser, as well, making them totally inaccessible... and no, moving the scroll bar would not remedy this.
I'm not about to click and download 634 images manually.
Who in the world left this script at this stage of development...?
For small eBooks of only a handful of pages this might be useful, but for any works of any length, this is not an acceptable solution.
Useful tool. If this wasn't there, I'd have to take a screenshot every page and save it. So, I'm really thankful for this.
I've always found this script good, but I note there appears to be a version 2.3 modified by a different author here:
At a cursory glance it seems pretty similar, just with a few new tweaks
i would like to say to the admin for script for activate greasemonkey or books downloader, because i still enjoy till now for download some books with free. so i feel enjoy for reading and studying everything i want. so, thanks to you much.
This programs may have worked well once but it certainly hasn't performed well for awhile. It may be abandoned (no one seems to know) and it can be a bit difficult to understand for beginners. At this point it isn't worth using unless there's some update of features.
This is a time saver and works well with the current version of FF.
