I've been using YousableTubeFix.. which is a fantastic script for improving Youtube. I just happened to see this script on the front page and decided to test out the author's claims of being the best of the best.
I tried it out and compared it to YousableTubeFix (YTF) on an HD video. It was quite good, but I found that YTF is still better when used along with Youtube "Lights Out" script.
HD Ultimate felt a little glitchy for me. The framerate on HD videos were low with the script until I went full-screen (this problem doesn't occur with YTF). The page didn't scroll as smoothly as it does with YTF when video is playing. The page layout also is not as well-designed as YTF is.
YTF also allows for instant user-resize on the fly, while HD Ultimate only has a preset video size. The expand video to browser (which is enabled by DEFAULT) is very buggy. As soon as I resize my browser, even an inch, it freezes up briefly, making Firefox 3.5 unresponsive, before the video player catches up and resizes. It also ate up CPU resources making everything slow.
It also doesn't have the element hiding functionality of YTF.
Overall, this is a good script, but it is not the best as the author claims. The YTF script wins the title for now.

This is a very well-designed script, it features easy to use download links, and a dimmer option for all videos, but what stands out the most is it's additional drop-down menu. When this script is active, an extra link appears with the links in the top right corner labeled "Show Ultimate Options", this brings out a menu that lets you change the effects the script have on YouTube, you can change the color of the video player, you can activate 720p video for videos that support it, you can loop the video instead of showing related videos at the end, you can even make it so it automatically collapses all of the tabs and/or turns annotations off. The only real downside to this script is the click video to play option, this makes it so that every time you click the video in any spot, it has the same effect as hitting the play/pause button, this doesn't seem like much of a problem until you try to search through related videos, and instead of sifting through to the next set of videos when you click on the arrows on the side, it restarts the video. All in all, excellent script, I recommend it.
This still is a great script and it if this had a download button, then it would be amazing, i still recommend this to everyone.
Works great and does exactly what it says on the tin.
Thanks very much! ^^
Works as advertised and the author is always on top of things whether it be a request or bug report.
Nuff said.
This is EASILY the best Greasemonkey script that you can get for Youtube.
1.) It now has the ability to automatically find the highest quality version of a video. 720p, Stereo, whatever. BIG kudos to the hands behind the code!
2.) It does not need to refresh the page. This is so much more convenient than other solutions available for Youtube.
It's one of the most impressive scripts that I've found.
Works as advertised.
works great, exactly as advertised.
All in all it's a great script it does exactly what it's supposed to do and is constantly updated with new features. I do wish it had a Button that enlarges or shrinks the video at will. But all in all the most well done script I've seen.
