I love the goal of this script; I've wanted to get rid of the Google task bar entirely since it first arrived, more so since it turned black and spammed me with G+ data I don't care about.
There is, however, a bug.
Running this script breaks Google calendar for me on Firefox 5 and 6 running on OS X. The tasks side bar loads but isn't populated with tasks, or if it is then changes I make to the tasks aren't committed. Also, I can no longer click and drag on the main face of the calendar to make events. The half-tone box does appear and follow the cursor around, but clicking doesn't set an end time and cement the event.
Sometimes a bunch of page refreshes fixes this problem, but it's not always the same number and it's not reliable. It usually only gets me one clean action, too---so one new event or one task modification.
If I disable this script in the Greasemonkey interface, it fixes the problem immediately.
Other than this bug, I love the script so I'd love to see it fixed up. (Although I'd love to see Google giving us UI choices more.)
Oops, how do I remove a review?

This script simply removes the bar completely. I recommend this script instead: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/105744 -- elegantly written, restores menu bar to previous appearance.
I'm using Chrome, and this script not only disables the black bar, it removes the entire area where the links live. I use those links, so I will have to remove this script. Thank you for your work!
This is great! Google looks good again.
It would be perfect if it did same for the left side when looking search results.
I am using IE 8 - I know you say it works for Google nav bar but when I download the script and execute it I get a runtime error.
Line 11 Char 1 "document" is undefined
Code 800A1391 - JSctipr runtime error - Any ideas I would really appreciate it if I could use your Goolbe Light Navbar tool - thanks
Better use http://userscripts.org/scripts/reviews/105735 or http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/105744 instead.

change it back to how it is instead
This does exactly what it says without any fuss. I found the back bar annoying and distracting so this works perfectly for me!
Thanks to the writer of this script. :)
It works for me but only for www.google.com, images.google.com but not
news.google.com.
