I really like the idea and visual appeal of this script, but it operates in slow motion - first the standard Google page with black navbar appears, then a second later, the one generated by the script appears. This reloading of the page is really irritating.

(deleting the rest of my original reply in which I temporarily offered an alternately coded script to prove that thanks to GM limitations with the DOM - basically, the page must load before the script can - that there is no way to avoid flash-on-page-load, especially for those of you on slower connections).
I want to update this reply to add that I've had the chance since this review was posted to test this script on slow (my connection), moderate and faster connections, and it appears to load instantly on the latter two (but on slow connections like mine, or even on overloaded faster connections, you can probably expect to wait).
While I've had one user say that her connection was extremely fast and still the script was hanging, I can't reproduce the problem on my end unless I deliberately overload the faster connections I've tried with many page loads and/or downloads at once.
