OK, I think I figured out what was going wrong. I think an add-on for firefox was modifying the html page, and the saved out copy was broken. I temporarily disabled the plugin, and now it works. I'll have a play around with the script now I've got it working, and see what I can come up with. <p>OK, I think I figured out what was going wrong.
