The point being that many of the suggestions offered apply only to Greasemonkey scripts. It seems to me that the <tt>==UserScript==</tt> comment block does nothing in Opera, but Opera sees the file extension <tt>.user.js</tt> as a Greasemonkey script, which is what all the scripts here use.
