What are Guides?

Guides are pages you can create recommending your favorite scripts or users.

It is important that you link guides by using a special text formatting (square brackets).

Linking to a user (Jesse Andrews) is done by typing in square brackets u:(the user id) [u:2]. Similarly you can link a script by doing [s:123].

Here are some of my recent favorite scripts: Nested Twitter Replies, [deleted script], Flickr: Show all images by a user in his/her groups, Userscripts.org Random Script Viewer

Linking scripts and users with this syntax instead of creating regular links allows tighter integration between the guides and the rest of the site in the future.

The "Guides" feature isn't ready for the general public yet. Ratings/reviews, commenting, and revision history need to be added first. Perhaps integration with the forums? Better urls? Better editor? More wiki like? Ability for others to edit?

If you have ideas for how to make them better, add your comments in the forum.

For learning purposes I've put the text that created this guide here.
