The server has went down twice in the last week :(

We upgraded to a new server with more ram. Previous to this we hadn't had issues with the stability. We have a ticket open with serverbeach. This is not acceptable and I hope to get it resolved ASAP

The server was down for 2 hours while server beach did testing... Unfortunately they didn't find anything:

Your server hardware test completed successfully and your server is back online.
Should you continue to experience any problems with this server, with no further explanation in the server logs, please let us know and we will proceed with a complete hardware replacement, excluding the hard drives.

Hopefully we don't see any more issues. Just want to keep everyone informed...

We had another issue this morning... the server crashed ... no data is lost but ... extremely frustrating

It has crashed every day since the upgrade. Server beach just replaced the hardware. Here's hoping that fixes the issue.

it has crashed again on new hardware

I'm seeing that code highlighting has been disabled due to memory issues...why not use a client-side code highlighter? This seems to be a good one that Yahoo! uses on its YUI! pages. Just a thought.

It must be back on, maybe the Operator highlighting was removed, however it thinks a / followed by a space-number is a RegExp, when it's actually a divide.

A client-side highlighter is probably better, even if it isn't a memory issue now, it could become one later - it may depend on how well the highlight code is written (I ought'a know, I've written some really slow Perl script). But it adds a lot of span tags in the html. I wrote a very basic gm script that does simple highlighting, and right after I wrote it I saw how buggy it can be. With a client side script we could also have the option to turn it off if it messes things up or if we just don't want it, or want to use our own highlighter.

Gosh, if only we knew some people who were good at javascirpt or client-side scripting. Boy, wouldn't that be convenient.

@Joel
lol...even better, if we only had a whole site full of them.

it is driving me crazy too... I'm working on it.
