Can anyone please tell me how to use scripts, when i press open on the file it says error an object was expected

It sounds like you've not got Greasemonkey installed. To install userscripts you need Firefox and the Greasemonkey extension for Firefox. When you have both come back and install the script by clicking on the install button.
