Hi all!

How do I enable RTL editing to the GMail *plaintext* mode? I can see them in the HTML mode, but I like to write plaintext messages. Meanwhile in Firefox 3.0.x all the Hebrew text is aligned to the left, which is annoying.

Google recently added RTL controls for all the languages. You can enable that buttons from the Settings screen. Therefore, this script is no longer necessary.

I've posted a new simple script that works on Gmail's new UI here:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/25811
You'll be able to insert RTL sections inline. It actually works better than Gmail's own RTL buttons, because it doesn't confuse Hebrew and English together.

You can also use this website to write your message and then copy it to Gmail editor and it will be RTL:

@Hetz: Yes, this is related to the new gmail layout. Since the layout is not yet supported in Hebrew, it is hard to add these buttons. Once Hebrew gmail uses this new layout, I'll look into porting this script to support the new layout.

I have problems with the buttons. It simply doesn't work. I don't see any new RTL buttons, no matter if I go to gmail by HTTP or HTTPS, whether I go to gmail.com manually or by using the gmail manager extension, it's simply not showing in rich text edit mode.

Are these problem related to the new gmail infrastructure that they have done lately?

Which parameters do I need to give in order to debug this issue?

This is weird. When I first log in all the icons are there. After using another script (Gmail + reader integrator) the icons disappear (I mean that the standard gmail attachments icons are used instead).

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but now only gcalendar reminders have a different icons. All the other attachments have the same one.

OK, the new Gmail GreaseMonkey API had some problems so I reverted to using the old method, but with the new Gmail layout. It should be working fine now. Let me know if you encounter any problem (or if you would like to tell me you liked my changes... ;) )

I updated the script with this new features:
1. Support for new Gmail
2. Added various icons (psd, svg, docx, xlsx)
3. Added a "Multiple attachments behavior" menu option to configure how multiple icons with the same extension are treated - see wmblewett comment.

From my short tests, it sort of works, but it still have some problems. I hope to have more updates soon.

OK, I got the new UI, but it is not trivial to add support for it, as it is quite a change. In fact, when I switch to Hebrew, I don't get the new UI, so maybe Hebrew is not yet supported in the new UI. Since I don't have too much time for it right now, I'll give it a few days. Also, since I copied my code from Geva's extension, I might also wait and see if he responds to Noam's request to support the new UI.

Very nice, I've been a happy user for several months now.

FYI, Gmail are now rolling out a new version of their web UI, and this doesn't work with the newer version.

I'd love to see this script working with the new UI.
