Hi!

Somehow this script doesn't work for me... the add and the print etc. buttons are on the old place just like before...

I don't want to change to the newer version, I like having eng-gb as opposed to US.

Fixed now. I didn't notice that because I've been using the new version.

While I was at it I updated it with some better features:

- If the message title is too long for the available horizontal space, it is truncated. An ellipsis (...) is added at the end. When you hover over the title, the whole title is shown.

- I decided to do something with the "Map this" and "Add to calendar" stuff. It appears next to the message body. It's fairly unobtrusive there. It's 120 pixels wide. If you want to change this, do a search for "of.style.width".

Also did some general cleanup and tested it to make sure it works in FF3 (it does).

I've just updated to the latest script, and I'm getting the old bug where the print this etc. links appear along the side rather than along the top. :(

I like this script~~ The only problem is if you use Gmail Super Clean skin, when click on the mail the reply button on top seems missing....

allenkeynyc, thanks for that, I now know where "map this" lives. If you have any suggestions for where it should go once the right hand side bar has been removed, they would be very welcome.

that's everything in the firefox window when i hit view selection source.

and that's just what was selected when the firefox window opened up, which didnt select a bit in the beginning and end of what was in the entire window.

for both of these i selected the entire side bar from new window to about these links

Your ad removal / maximization script is the best one out there for the older version of Gmail.

Thanks for that, but I think I'll need a bit more to work out where in the DOM it appears in relation to the ads and the "Collapse all", "New Window", etc. buttons. So if you could also select those and paste the HTML for the whole right panel that would be helpful. Hopefully it's the same structure as the old version - they don't seem to have changed anything except the class names.

that's in the gmail "newer version"

i just selected the text with map this and the address, and right clicked it, and selected show selection source.

do you need more code than that?
i noticed that in gmail older version, the map this options don't pop up unless the speicfic message with the address is expanded, not collapsed. but in newer version, the address can be in a collapsed message and it still shows up

I know. Unfortunately I can't replicate this, probably because it knows I'm in the UK.

If you could supply the HTML relevant to the whole right hand panel when "map this" is present, I could try and fix it. Use "view selection source" in the context menu, post it to the pastebin and link to it here.

this script blocks link such as, map this, or track this, when you have an address or package tracking number in an email

Thanks for that codam, it works for me now too. I'm not a fan of US English, but I'll put up with it for now while I update the script. :) Might be a while though, I don't really have time right now. Will probably use the gmonkey API though, since it is such a great thing google have provided. Truly forward thinking.

You might not have the new UI if you've got English (UK) selected as your display language - I had to switch to English (US) before I had the new Gmail.

I am using the latest version of Firefox, 2.0.0.9, on Windows XP. I still don't have the new UI. I've tried logging out and in again and clearing my cache and still nothing. I must be on one of the last of Google's servers to get the upgrade. :(

Raffles, I think I may know why you are not seeing the new Gmail UI. The UI is currently only built for IE7 and Firefox 2. Once you download one of those browsers you should be able to use the new UI.

Well, it doesn't matter how old it is, I had never seen it before and just wanted to see what it looked like and try to get it to work for me. But I couldn't. :( Still no new Gmail for me either.

I emailed myself that address and a few others, but can't get the "Map this" stuff to appear, only ads. Maybe it's only for people in the US.
