If you change to HTML5 mode at http://www.youtube.com/html5 the script does not work anymore: you can not use the pulldown menu.

I was wondering... Why doesn't the context menu come up properly when I right click a video quality?

What I mean is, when I click the dropdown and right-click 720p, for example, it brings up the context menu but it's like I just right-clicked on the page (no save-as option).

It's probably due to how you hide the box after it's clicked upon. Maybe you could do a check and make it only close if the user clicked off the box.

just letting you know after installing this Youtube5 extension (http://www.verticalforest.com/youtube5-extension/) on Safari 6.0.2, YouTube Video Download drop down menu has a GUI glitch preventing you from seeing the options. it can by fixed by reloading the page.

update: most of the time i try reloading now, it doesn't fix the problem, so i can't get the videos to download

I didn't change anything in my PC, but now both videos above are working (downloading) fine.
It could be a transitory problem on Youtube side.
Everything is working very well now.

The video above is NOT working on my PC, and this one below is NOT working too:

I am using "Windows 7 32-bit" and "Firefox 20.0.1" and “YouTube Video Download v4.1.1”.
The Youtube is the normal version (Flash Player).
There are other samples of videos that aren't working too.

When I click a file link in the dropdown menu, nothing happens. However, if I open it in a new tab, I get a 403 (Forbidden).
This seems to be caused by some change done by YouTube, because I also got it using other download scripts, but it would be awesome if you could fix this.

It seems Youtube renamed some of their variables, breaking the script. A simple find & replace should fix it. Search for yt.playerConfig.args, and replace it with ytplayer.config.args.

If you're using the html5 player, and can't download anything - when you click the arrow, the box is blank - do the following to fix your script:

Using Find & Replace, search for yt.playerConfig.args, and replace it with ytplayer.config.args.

If you're using version 3.2.* of the script, also search for getHTML5Map();, and replace it with //getHTML5Map();.

The error reported is an error with your code even though the error message itself states otherwise. I assume your code still uses the 'yt' variable.

Since the latest update YouTube pushed out to their site (roughly March 20, 2013) there is an error reported in the JavaScript console:

Hint: Change "youtube" to "ssyoutube" in the address bar, hit enter and download it from there. Works reliably in Germany too ;)

Is there an easy way to make YouTube Video Download work on YouTube unblocking sites, such as unblockyoutube.us?

It's annoying enough to have videos blocked because you live in the "wrong" country (I guess it's mostly Germany with it's fascist GEMA) but not being able to use YouTube Video Download is really nasty. It just shows how great this "little program" is...

I can't seem to right click and "Save Link As" (or use my DTA add-on) when the box disappears when I click inside it.

I ask you, can you make the pop-up download box only disappear when you click off it? Like outside of it? Otherwise, I can't use this script.

Interesting idea, I would like to have that too but I think download is not directly possible, but building a rudimentary HTML page around the content of the watch-description-clip or the eow-description like this:

or, if the additional Info is not necessary: 'eow-description', provided in a Link as data URL that opens in a new tab could be possible. May be some creative fiddling with the mime-type can force opening the download dialog instead of displaying it.

It could be that Opera starts the script on the meta.js page too. Opera starts userscripts a little bit different than greasemonkey, it can be theoretically injected into everything.

Interestingly the error does not occur, if the script is installed by the
https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/...
extension.

btw: Just out of curiosity, not related to the problem: What is the reason for the inject(start) at the end? Just start() works too, at least with Opera ...
