I modified the original script to support the new 1080p feature.
It's only temporary because YouTube will LIKELY change the inner workings of their site once 1080p has finished it's test phase...

- New option called "True 1080p"
- Does a check to see if 1080p is available (more info below)
- Honors "fit to window", so you can see the whole video if your screen resolution isn't big enough
- It can display a full 1080p sized frame when "True 1080p" is enabled and your screen resolution is big enough
- Adds a download link next to "hd mp4" called "hd 1080p"
- Updating is disabled, to prevent messing anything up.

The script goes by the same (internal) name as the original so it can use the settings you saved earlier.
You should uninstall the original version before installing this one: Manage user scripts -> UNCHECK "also uninstall associated preferences" -> Uninstall.

The original script uses YouTube's own configuration to see if there's a HD 720p version available by looking for "IS_HD_AVAILABLE", there is no such thing for 1080p at the moment, so I made it look into "fmt_map" to see if it starts with "37".

actually it stopped working for me, but then I changed the option "autobuffer" and it started working again, then I turned autobuffer off and it still works! ... so maybe the people that are having issues can try changing an option or two, and hopefully it will start working, then you can turn the options back to how you had them.

There is a Greasemonkey type add on for IE called ie7pro. It also works in IE8 and will hopefully get better at doing that. This add on is held back by having only a very small community of developers. Check it out at http://www.iescripts.org/ and while you are there look at the forums and especially the one about porting scripts. Perhaps it would be worthwhile to you to make your genius available to this new project. I know many ie7pro users would be happy to see this ported to IE.

I love the mini-mode, and maybe this is asking too much, but it would be awesome, if you could make the YouTube player overlayed, so we can change the volume, etc in mini-mode.

but your script doesnt support this effect.

Changing the line:

I took some time to make this userscript work with Opera latest stable release.
There is still some work to do, but my modifications make it work with Opera too (still working on FF of course!).

Here are some suggestions/requests:

I believe youtube built in their own dim lights feature (for some reason it only shows on some videos though) so I guess you can remove that from your script once it is working on all videos as your button doesn't work when the youtube one is present and it is silly having 2 light bulbs.

Also, youtube now includes a button to shrink the player. It is 2 arrows facing each other. Your script breaks that button. Sometimes the video is too low quality to watch in the bigger window and I want to go back to the original size but can't because that button no longer works.

Finally, youtube now has rounded edges on the video player which for some reason I kinda like. Your script replaces the rounded edges with the original box edges. Any way to add an option to use rounded or box edges?

Hi Avindra. Since YT seems to like to change their code often, and cause scripts like yours to be rewritten, would it be possible for you to put in some code that will automatically check for an update? I've seen it used before in the GC Bag-o-tricks script.
