Feature Request: Remove Search Box Completely, replied by Lassoken @ Mon, 04 May 2009 21:30:53 +0000

Search box still seems to steal the focus. Or at least vimperator jumps into Insert mode when the page gets loaded. Maybe this is hard to debug without vimperator addon.

Hi Lassoken,

I've fixed the focus problem (I think). Try out the latest version of the script and let me know it that's what you had in mind.

Hi Lassoken, that's a really good point. Something I definitely need to work on. Just give me some time because I'm only a few weeks away from finishing my degree so I'm super busy.

As for the rounded corners, I doubt I'll implement that (sorry!) because it's not really related to what Super iGoogle is all about. If I do implement that I'll probably post it as a separate script. I'll see how bored I get!

Cheers!

Even if I toggle off header and mini search, search box still grabs the focus when igoogle is loaded. This is really annoying when using vimperator addon of firefox.

Other nice feature would be to remove ugly rounded corners from gadgets.

This is a killer script even without these features.

I was able to do it by taking out some code, which I'm sure wasn't healthy, but I'd like an option to completely remove the Google search box since all the browsers I use have one built-in.

P.S. Awesome script.

Ahh! Yes I noticed that a while ago, actually. I was hoping it wasn't like that for everyone... I briefly tried to fix it before but didn't succeed. I'll try harder when I have the time; I'm afraid I'm really busy with my degree dissertation atm. Thanks for pointing it out, though!

PLEEEZ help me w Greasemonkey!!!, replied by stinkinrich88 @ Mon, 02 Feb 2009 20:04:49 +0000

Hey dude, sorry I don't have AIM so I hope you get this...

Greasemonkey is a browser add-on which allows you to automatically run javascript code on a particular webpage, every time you visit it.

For example, you could write some javascript code which hides an advert on myspace.com, then tell greasemonkey to run this code everytime you visit myspace.com. Then, every time you visit myspace.com the advert will be hidden.

Userscripts.org hosts javascript code for greasemonkey to use. I have written the code for Super iGoogle (you can see what Super iGoogle does by reading the description). If you like the sound of my script and you want to use it, simply click "Install" on the Super iGoogle script page. (Assuming you have already installed greasemonkey).

Note that Super iGoogle isn't really maintained anymore. I don't use it any more so I'm not sure if it still works. You might want to install a more popular iGoogle script (search this site for one). Lots of spin-offs of Super iGoogle have been developed. Good luck!
