Thanks to Byronical I've made the necessary update - please upgrade to version 5.2. I found I had to apply an AdBlock exception for one particular Javascript: http://tvnz.co.nz/stylesheets/tvnz/lib/js/adver.... Once this is in place I've found the Flash video loads and the links can be derived from the XML.

a subtle change was done to the player element and the flashVars element has become flashvars. Change the following line in the .js script

if(player.childNodes[i].name == "flashVars")
to
if(player.childNodes[i].name == "flashvars")

I had to also recently play around with my Adblock but managed to get it working again without those pesky adverts. My Adblock configuration for TVNZ is
|http://download.tvnz.co.nz/adcreative/*
|http://ad.au.doubleclick.net/*

I was including http://ad.nz.doubleclick.net/* but then just a while ago the flash stop playing. I haven't had any ads from this site since unblocking though???

Hi Captain D: yeah, something's definitely up at the Circle K. I had to disable Adblock in order to get the Flash video to load, and even then the download links weren't being parsed. I'll need to do some work when I get a chance (although you might want to check out FlashGot which I believe provides similar -- although not as awesome -- functionality as the GM script in question).

Awesome work!

I've just updated to 0.5.1 (from 0.4) on Greasemonkey 0.8.20090123.1 with Firefox 3.5.1 (Mac OS x 10.5) and I neither see any download links nor the advisory note. Tried the various NZ shows including Shortland St - no success.
Am I missing something? Can I check whether something's wront at my end?

What version of the script are you using? I recently fixed up some problems with links not appearing. I just tried those links you provided and they worked fine for me.

Hi,

I'm using Firefox 3.0.11, Windows Vista and just installed the script today. Unfortunately, I am not seeing any download links as shown in the after screenshot. It looks like the before screenshot.

I've gone to a range of pages including these:

Hi team -- yes looks like there was a problem with the script. I've fixed it up and got it working again. You should be able to download Shorties but, as discussed, Lost et al aren't able to be downloaded. Please upgrade to version 0.5.1 of the script and let me know the outcome. I should warn you I'm at home sick with a cold so I've bound to have missed something. :-)

Hi David. Thanks a lot for making this script. Unfortunately I'm having similar problems to other users... First off, tried downloading Lost (http://tvnz.co.nz/lost/s5-e12-video-2711414), but no sign of download links or an advisory that it doesn't work. Then as a test, I tried downloading the latest episode of Shortland St (http://tvnz.co.nz/shortland-street/s18-e4248-video-2767054) but same results. I'm using FireFox 3.0.10 and GreaseMonkey 0.8.20090123.1 on Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit SP1.

I did some work on it last week to reflect the change in domain etc. Have you tried upgrading to the latest version?

Its not working for anything anymore.

Looks like TVNZ abandoned ondemand and now it is all striaght through http://tvnz.co.nz/video. Any chance of fixing this David?

As I suspected, overseas shows use RMTP as the transport mechanism. I'll look into this when I get around to it. I've updated the script to display an advisory if this situation occurs.

Looks like this script still works on NZ content, but imported content is protected. It is still possible to work out the URL of the .flv files but they are rejected with a 403 Forbidden error when accessed directly.

Regrettably I'm on honeymoon in Europe until late May so can't answer your question definitively. That said -- some of tvnzondemand.co.nz's videos are actually delivered via RMPTE (look it up) rather than HTTP and aren't accessible via this script, so that might be your problem. Considering "Terminator" is a fancy-pants American show then their licensing situation might require them to use the RMPTE solution rather than HTTP. Can you download something like Shortland Street? That always seems to work.

I cant get it to work at the moment wondering if TVNZ have changed the site again?

For example I tried the new Terminator and couldn't download them with your script.

Hi iNick -- what page in particular are you looking at on the tvnzondemand.co.nz site? Not all programmes have chapter information available in XML over HTTP so there are some things which this won't work for. Maybe that's the problem.

If you could provide your Firefox version number as well and platform that would be super rad.

I'm using it because when I try to view anything on TVNZondemand all I get is "LOADING"
