I am new to GreaseMonkey and I don't know how to formulate the proper expression.

Any help appreciated with excluding a feed with a certain tag from All Items.

doesn't work on Vista 32bit and Chrome 2.0.172.28. the button on top right corner doesn't show up and cause google reader to randomly unsubscribe feed

this is the only script that will filter google reader so hopefully this script will get updated to iron out the bugs

I have nothing filtered in either Excludes or Highlights and about 75% of the unread items are faint gray with the filter script enabled. I am viewing in list view, not expanded. Where are the filter arguments saved?

The filters are only applied to feed articles which haven't been 'read' yet. Once you read them the filter stops being applied.

2.
The filters are only applied to feed articles which have a <title> component. I subscribe to a feed which doesn't have a <title> component in its code so being able to use other parts of the feed would be nice, such as <description> etc.

3.
Feed specific filters would be nice too. The script could save filters for each specific feed and only use them on that feed. Being able to choose options for each feed would be nice too (e.g. whether to use the <title> or <description> component for a specific feed).

Aside form that, it is a good script, just needs a bit more work. If i could code Javascript, i'd do it myself.

I have this problem too.
I tried to add the Chinese unicode "\u4e00-\u9fa5" into the source, but it doesn't work.

thanks for the great tool, however it seems the filter can't work with RSS item with Chinese text in the title.

For example if a RSS item with title of: "AABB (a chinese text)", I can neither filter this item by AABB nor (a chinese text).

I would like to tweak to have a brighter highlight color. When I looked at the code, there were quite a few "#" entries for the colors. Can you advise which "#" HTML color code is the light red highlighting, so I can adjust on my end?

This script only filters by title. It doesn't filter by the description or links, so the utility is very limited.

This tool is awesome so far...and the only one that even works of the 4 that show up with the search.

One issue I'm having though, is there a way to filter out duplicates by feeds? For instance I subscribe to Feed "A" and Feed "B". Feed "B" contains most of Feed "A" but is simply a link to the Feed "A", hence more work getting to read Feed "A". Can I filter out duplicates and keep all Feed "A"'s and hide Feed "B"'s of the same name?

Hi, I'm seeing too these nice '#' with a pink background and the filters don't work at all.
No other script is activated. FF3.0.1
As I saw two other comments regarding this, was there a solution for the problem?

Filters aren't case sensitive.

1. Please contact me directly with more detailed description of your problem. I'm not familiar with Google Alert feeds, maybe they are built differently from other feeds. - elado7 [at] gmail [dot] com
2. When I have time, or if someone else wants to update this, they are most welcome.

I'm using my own script on a daily basis (hourly, to be honest :)) since the day it was written and it serves me well.

I tested on it with Google Alert feeds. When you add a Google Alert feed - there's an automatic first feed for each subscription with a set title: "Feeds for Google Alerts"

First I tried out regexes in Exclude and in Highlight. Nothing happened. So I tried out two very basic filters

I don't know if filters are case sensitive.

I tried "Exclude" and I tried "Highlight" - I checkmarked "Update" - and I refreshed Google Reader. Nothing. Whatever I did - the results were plain old unfiltered feeds.

Will url filtering be available? I want to use google feeds to search for torrents. The ability to filter via urls would be nice. mininova for example generates loads of hits I don't want at all...

I'm using Firefox 3.0 with Greasemonkey 0.8.2xxxx.
After install this script I tested with some feeds and I didn't notice any result.
I've used bellow expressions into Lifehacker feed to mark feeds (exclude them).
.*iPhone.*
.*Mac OS.*

Could you help me with that?

@mad.dog - you can use something much better than wildcards -- Regular Expressions. See

This is a great script. A couple of wishlist items:

Can I use wildcards? For example, I'd like to filter anything with "forest", "forests", "deforestation" etc. but if I just insert "forest" it doesn't pick up the others.

Also, the highlighting does not make feeds stand out very much - being able to adjust the colours etc. would be nice.

@emorisse - You can enter the Filter Settings and uncheck the checkbox

I love this script but recently noticed an issue. I get the "#" symbol to the right of every feed. It has a Pink Background. When I disable the Filter Script. It goes away. If I enable it, it shows the "#" symbol to the right of every feed.

Any help getting rid of this would be appreciated. I am running FF3.01

Am I missing something? The exclude seems to work but highlights don't seem to be doing anything.
